Classical vs Jazz Music

Nowadays, classical and jazz music are prestigious things. Many people appreciate listening and playing them. Which one do you prefer? Now, I am going to compare and contrast between classical and jazz music in some aspects.
There are two similarities between the two. The first similarity is that they both have the same function. It is entertainment. We know that some Indonesian musicians have made some concerts. The newest classical concert is Cantaible Concert. Twilite Orchestra who is led by Addie MS could hipnotize the audiences. Besides, jazz music also has the famous concert. It is Java Jazz International. Many internasional musicians, such as Dave Kos, take part in this concert. Certainly, it will satisfy many jazz lovers.

The second similarity is that they have advantages at health. A paper in the U.K. states that listening to classical or jazz can relieve chronic pain and migraines, reduce blood pressure, improve memory, boost immunity and induce relaxation. When you play a piano, your hands and feet will be used. It needs our concentration. It means that our brain will be trained. Next, do you remember about Mozart’s theory? Its state said that baby in the womb listen to classical music, they will be better in growth. On the other hands, when someone plays saxophone in jazz, he will need strong and long breathe. Of course it also needs trained lungs.
There are also several differences between classical and jazz music. First, the instrument they use. Classical usually uses piano, violin, cello, flute, etc. Besides, jazz usually uses guitar, tromphone, flute, saxophone, clarinet, etc.
They are also differ in their performance. Classical contains music that is completely notated. The classical musicians’ creativity are not free. Classical music has charateristics of structured, many rules, and controlled beauty. In some cases, people who come in classical concert will feel sleepy. On the other hand, jazz is more free in their performance. Jazz is often known for its mixture of simple and complex rhythms and beats. It emphasizes for its' improvisational quality. The musicians are often “composing on the fly” (improving). In every performance, there is always something new to be shown. So, the people will be satisfy because of the performance.
Now we can see that classical and jazz are similar in some ways but also different in others. Which one do you prefer? Classical or jazz? It depends on your mood. They have their own characteristics. One day you prefer listening jazz, but other day you prefer listening classical. Both is good. J
